Domains
Adding, editing, and scheduling scans for the domains you track.
Every SurfacedBy account tracks one or more domains. A domain is the root website you want measured across AI platforms; you do not track individual pages or products. Research consistently shows that domain-level tracking produces more reliable AI visibility data than product-level tracking.
Adding a domain
You add a domain from the dashboard. Enter the root hostname (for example yourbrand.com), and SurfacedBy runs the onboarding flow: auto-analysis of your site, brand confirmation, competitor discovery, and a starting prompt set. The flow takes a few minutes of active time.
If your plan allows more than one domain, you can repeat this flow for each additional domain. Plans cap the number of domains: Starter covers 1, Professional covers 5, Business covers 10.
Editing a domain
From the domain detail page you can:
- Rename the brand if the auto-detected name is wrong.
- Add or remove competitors from the Manage tab inside Competitors.
- Pin or unpin Prompts from Tracked Prompts.
Changes apply to the next scan, not retroactively. Historical data uses the Prompts and competitors that were active at the time of that scan.
Scan scheduling
Every paid tier gets Daily Monitoring plus a Full Benchmark. Cadence is set by your plan; see the Plans page for current frequencies. You cannot trigger an on-demand scan from the dashboard; see Scans for details.
Deleting a domain
Deleting a domain is a soft action by default. The domain is removed from your dashboard and stops scanning, but historical data is retained for auditability and restoration. If you need a permanent hard delete, the account admin can request it.
The public API exposes the same semantics via DELETE /domains/{domain_id}.
