Free Tools
Public SurfacedBy tools you can use without a plan, and the read-only demo workspace.
These tools run on surfacedby.com and do not need a paid plan. They are useful for a first look at a site, and several of them share their checks with the dashboard.
Free AI Visibility Checker
The Free AI Visibility Checker puts 10 buying questions from your category to each of ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini, then reports how often your brand appears, where you rank when it does, and which sources the answers cited.
Enter your domain and a work email, then open the confirmation link sent to that address to start the check. The email confirms the request is real and receives the report. The check is free, needs no credit card, and installs nothing on your site. It is a one-time snapshot. Tracking prompts over time with Daily and Full Checks requires a paid plan. See Plan limits.
Site readiness tools
No login is required for any of these:
- Robots.txt checker - shows which AI crawlers your robots.txt allows or blocks. Paid plans have the same check on the dashboard; see Robots.txt Checker.
- llms.txt generator - builds an llms.txt file for your site that you can edit before downloading.
- Content checker - scores a single page for AI readiness. Paid plans have the fuller dashboard version; see Content Checker.
- Chrome extension - scores any page you are viewing. See Browser Extension.
The full list is at surfacedby.com/tools.
AI Search Index
The AI Search Index is a public benchmark, updated daily, of how AI platforms source their answers: sources per answer, how often they search the web, how old the cited pages are, the kinds of websites behind the citations, and changes in how each platform sources its answers. The figures come from the AI answers SurfacedBy collects for the websites it tracks, so treat it as context for your own results, not a measure of your site.
Demo workspace
surfacedby.com/demo opens a read-only demo workspace with sample brands, so you can explore the real dashboard before signing up. Demo data is illustrative, and nothing you do there changes it.
