Alerts
Notifications SurfacedBy sends when your AI visibility changes materially.
SurfacedBy sends alerts when a metric moves enough to be worth your attention. Alerts are opt-in per category and arrive in the dashboard, by email, and via outbound webhook if you have subscribed.
Alert types
- Your First Results Are Ready - fires once after your first scan completes so you know to come look at the data.
- Visibility Score Dropped - your Visibility Score fell by enough to exit the normal scan-to-scan noise band.
- Brand Coverage Changed - Brand Coverage moved materially up or down.
- A Competitor Passed You - a competitor you track moved ahead of you on Market Position.
- Dropped on [Platform] - your AI Mentions on a specific AI platform fell sharply, which usually indicates a platform-specific issue rather than a category-wide shift.
- New Competitor Detected - SurfacedBy's auto-discovery found a domain repeatedly cited alongside yours that is not yet in your tracked competitor set.
- New Brand Lens - a new Brand Lens emerged for your domain because enough recent AI responses cluster around a recurring topic, attribute, or comparison.
- Brand Lens Fading - an existing Brand Lens dropped below the recent-coverage threshold, signalling the conversation about your brand is shifting away from that lens.
Settings
From Settings -> Notifications, you can toggle each alert category on or off. The two high-signal toggles are Visibility Score Alerts and Brand Coverage Alerts; these are on by default for new accounts. The others are off by default to keep the inbox quiet.
Delivery channels
Every alert lands in the dashboard's notification center. Email delivery is automatic for subscribed alert types. On Professional and Business, outbound webhooks fire alert.triggered events so you can route alerts into Slack, PagerDuty, or an internal tool without an email hop. See Webhook events.
Thresholds
Alert thresholds are tuned by SurfacedBy, not set per account, because a single bad threshold choice breaks the signal-to-noise balance of the entire product. If a specific alert is firing too often or not often enough on your account, that is useful feedback to send us.
