Quickstart

This quickstart takes you from a new account to a domain with real results. Setup takes a few minutes of your time; the first Full Check then runs in the background and usually finishes within a few minutes.

1. Create an account

Sign up at surfacedby.com/auth/signup with your email and a password, or with Google. If you picked a plan on the pricing page first, SurfacedBy takes you to checkout for that plan after signup. Otherwise you land on the dashboard and choose a plan at the end of setup.

2. Add your domain

Choose Add a domain and enter the domain you want to track, for example yourbrand.com. You can paste a full URL: SurfacedBy removes the protocol, www., and any page path, and keeps the hostname.

3. Complete the setup wizard

Adding a domain opens a short setup wizard:

1. Analysis - SurfacedBy reads your site to understand your brand and category. This usually takes one to two minutes. You can skip it and fill in the next steps yourself.
2. Brand - confirm or edit your brand name, category, description, and brand variations. The brand name and variations are what SurfacedBy looks for when it decides whether an AI answer names you.
3. Competitors - keep the suggested competitors you want to track, remove the rest, and add any that are missing.
4. Prompts - choose which suggested Prompts to track, up to your plan's Prompt limit, and add your own. This step also sets the markets (countries) each Prompt is checked in.
5. Plan - shown only when the workspace has no active plan. Pick a plan, or choose Try 7 days free where a trial is offered. The trial requires a card, runs with Starter limits (one domain, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity), and converts to the paid plan when it ends unless you cancel first.

4. Wait for the first Full Check

Your first Full Check starts when you finish the wizard, or as soon as checkout completes if you chose a plan in the last step. It checks your tracked Prompts across the AI platforms your plan includes and fills in the dashboard. It usually takes a few minutes; you can close the tab.

When it finishes, you get an email that your results are ready and a "Your First Results Are Ready" alert in the app.

5. Read your results

Open the domain's Overview and check:

• Visibility Score - a single 0 to 100 number summarising how visible you are across AI platforms.
• Brand Coverage - the share of AI answers that mention you, by citing your site or naming your brand.
• AI Mentions - how many AI answers mention you, in total and per platform.
• Market Position - where you rank against the competitors you track.

Then open Citations & Sources > Your pages to see which of your pages AI platforms cite. The Reading analytics guide explains what to act on first.

6. Optional: connect the API

On Professional and Agency, a workspace owner or admin can create an API key from Settings > Integrations > API keys and pull the same data programmatically. Professional keys can read; Agency keys created with the write scope can also add and remove domains and prompts. See the API introduction for the base URL, authentication, and rate limits.
