Quickstart
From signup to your first analytics view in about ten minutes.
This quickstart gets you from a fresh account to a domain with real scan data. The whole path takes about ten minutes of active time, though the first Full Benchmark runs in the background and finishes a few minutes after you complete onboarding.
1. Create an account
Sign up at app.surfacedby.com. If you want to see the product run on your own domain before paying, start a trial from the pricing page; otherwise pick a plan at signup and continue straight into onboarding.
2. Add your domain
After signup, onboarding starts immediately. Enter the root domain you want to track (for example yourbrand.com, not a specific page URL). SurfacedBy fetches your site, extracts context, and proposes a starting set of Prompts and competitors.
You confirm or adjust the brand name, review the auto-discovered competitors, and approve the Prompt set. Competitors you do not want to track can be removed, and you can add any the system missed.
3. Choose a plan
If you do not already have an active plan, the final onboarding step asks you to pick one. Starter covers a single domain, Professional covers up to five and includes the public REST API plus outbound webhooks, and Business covers up to ten with write access to the API.
4. Wait for the first scan
Your first Full Benchmark begins as soon as onboarding finishes. It runs Prompts against every AI platform included in your plan, records which answers cited your domain, and fills in the dashboard surfaces. Most first scans complete within a few minutes; you can close the tab and come back.
You will get a "Your First Results Are Ready" alert when the scan lands.
5. Read your results
Open the domain in your dashboard and check:
- Visibility Score - a single 0 to 100 number summarising how well you are doing across AI platforms.
- Brand Coverage - the percentage of AI responses that cited your domain.
- AI Mentions - how many citations each AI platform gave you.
- Market Position - where you rank against the competitors you track.
- Cited pages - the specific URLs AI platforms pulled from, on the URLs tab inside Citations.
From there, the Read analytics guide explains what to act on first.
6. Optional: connect the API
On Professional and above, you can mint an API key from Settings -> Developer and start pulling the same analytics data programmatically. See the API introduction for base URL, authentication, and rate limits.
