Drafted pitches to the sources AI platforms cite for your prompts but that never cite you.
AI platforms lean on a handful of third-party sites when they answer your prompts: review sites, roundups, comparison pages, and industry directories. Publisher outreach finds the ones that AI cites for your prompts but that have never cited you, drafts a pitch to earn a mention, and holds it until you approve sending it.
Nothing is sent without you. Every pitch is drafted automatically, but it leaves SurfacedBy only on your explicit send.
Which sources surface
A source becomes an outreach target when several things line up: AI platforms cite it for your prompts, it has never co-cited you, its citation presence is rising rather than fading, and it shows up in a context where competitors are picking up the mentions you are missing. That combination points to a publisher whose audience and AI weight you are absent from, where a citation would move your visibility.
These are the same third-party domains you can see on the Citations Domains tab, promoted into a queue with a drafted next step attached.
The approval flow
Each target moves through a small set of states, and you make every forward decision:
- A qualifying source lands in the queue as a target.
- You request a pitch. SurfacedBy drafts an outreach message for that publisher.
- You approve the pitch, request changes, or dismiss the target. Requesting changes generates a new draft.
- An approved pitch is still not sent on its own. Sending is a separate, explicit step where you choose how to send it.
There are two gates before anything goes out: the pitch must be approved, and then you must confirm the send. No target is contacted automatically.
Drafted for you
The pitch is drafted once you request it, written for the specific publisher and the context in which AI is citing them. You review and edit before approving, then send on your terms.
After you send
After you confirm a send, you can record the outcome (responded, placed, no response, and so on) so the queue reflects what actually happened. Earning a citation from a publisher is exactly the kind of action the Content Impact loop watches for in later scans.
Plan gating
Publisher outreach requires the Professional plan or higher. On lower plans the surface shows a locked preview explaining what it does and which plan unlocks it.
