Community Engagement
Approved replies in the AI-cited conversations where competitors show up and you do not.
When AI platforms answer a prompt, they often reach for community conversation on Reddit and X, not just published pages. Community engagement watches those conversations for the threads where competitors are surfacing and you are absent, drafts a reply for you, and holds it in a queue until you approve it.
Nothing is posted without you. Every reply is drafted automatically, but it goes live only when you approve it.
Supported platforms
Community engagement watches Reddit, X, and LinkedIn for conversations tied to your tracked prompts, across curated communities and search terms.
How a drafted reply reaches the conversation depends on the platform:
- Reddit and X. Connect your account and an approved reply is posted for you.
- LinkedIn. Replies are copy-only. SurfacedBy drafts the reply and you post it yourself, with the browser extension making it a one-click paste into the thread, because LinkedIn has no compliant API for posting comments.
How a conversation reaches your queue
Watched conversations are scored for relevance. A conversation that clears the relevance threshold becomes a queue item you can act on; one that falls below the threshold is dismissed automatically, so the queue stays focused on the threads worth your attention rather than every mention of your category.
The result is a queue of real conversations where joining in could put you in front of the same audience an AI platform is already pointing at competitors.
The approval flow
Each queue item moves through a small set of states, and a person makes every forward decision that matters:
- A relevant conversation lands in the queue.
- You request a draft. SurfacedBy generates a suggested reply written to read in a natural, human register.
- You approve the draft, request changes, or dismiss it. Requesting changes generates a new draft.
- Only an approved reply goes out: posted for you on Reddit and X, or ready to paste on LinkedIn.
A reply is never sent from the draft state. The send step requires that you have approved the reply first, so the only way a comment goes out is a person clicking approve.
Drafted for you
The reply is drafted automatically once you request it, grounded in the conversation and your brand context. You review and edit it before approving. The draft is a starting point you control, not an autopilot.
After you reply
Once a reply is live, SurfacedBy watches the conversation for outcome signals so you can see whether the reply landed. Outcome information is only meaningful after the reply is posted; before that, the item is still a draft waiting on you.
Plan gating
Community engagement requires the Professional plan or higher. On lower plans the surface shows a locked preview explaining what it does and which plan unlocks it.
