AI Mentions
How many AI answers mention your brand, in total and per AI platform.
AI Mentions is the number of AI answers that mention your brand, either by citing your page or by naming your brand (the Cited and Named tiers of Brand Presence). Where Brand Coverage tells you "what share of AI answers mention us", AI Mentions tells you "how many, and on which platform".
What is counted
AI Mentions counts answers, not links. The headline number reads your current scoreboard: the latest answer for every tracked prompt, platform, and country. Each answer on the scoreboard that cites or names you adds one, however many of your pages it links. A question tracked in two countries is two prompts, so on four platforms it can contribute up to eight mentions.
Brand Coverage is AI Mentions divided by the number of answers on the scoreboard, so the two always move together for the same set of prompts.
Per-platform breakdown
The same count is broken out per AI platform. Your breakdown covers the platforms your plan includes (ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini on every paid plan and the trial, plus Google AI Mode on Professional and Agency) and any platform add-on you hold (Claude, Grok, DeepSeek). See AI Platforms.
Cross-platform variance
AI platforms disagree more than you might expect. It is common to be mentioned often on one platform and rarely on another, even for the same prompts. That variance is itself a useful signal: a platform where you are rarely mentioned usually points at content that platform does not find or use, or at a competitor that holds the spot.
Overview and AI Visibility show AI Mentions per platform so you can spot these imbalances. Trends charts your total AI Mentions over time and can compare it with your tracked competitors.
Current count versus answers in a date range
The AI Mentions tile on Overview and AI Responses is the scoreboard count and does not change with the date range. Lists and counts that cover a date range, such as the answers captured on AI Responses, count every answer collected in that range, including repeated answers to the same prompt, so they are usually larger.
Why the number shifts between checks
- AI platforms update their models and how they search, which changes what they mention.

- Competitors publish new content and take places in answers.
- Your own site changes, for better or worse.
- Adding prompts, countries, or platforms adds answers that can mention you, so the raw count can rise without any change in your share.
The change shown next to AI Mentions compares it with the previous check of the same kind. Because it is a raw count, compare it alongside Brand Coverage, and look at the trend over several checks rather than a single one.
